Woodstock Cherries December update with the latest twist…

As 2020 comes to an end, the ripple effects of the Covid pandemic continue to play out & unfortunately we are not immune from things as they continue to unfold…but not for the reasons you may think.

The cherries are looking fantastic this year with all our varieties (except Kordia) loaded with a bumper crop.

The season looks to be starting a little earlier the year and our recently planted early variety trees (Bedel, Merchant and Chelan) will be having their first viable crop and we should start picking these cherries towards the end of the first week in December…which is unheard of!

Unfortunately though, it looks like the postal system is going to prevent us from sending out any interstate orders this year…all the information we can obtain from Australia Post is that express post deliveries aren’t being guaranteed for next day delivery the foreseeable future & anecdotal stories we are hearing and experiencing is confirming this, with extended time taken (up to a week for some areas) for express parcels.

Delivery times may get back to normal mid to late January, but there are no guarantees at the moment. We will be monitoring this situation throughout January 2021 & will send out another notification if this situation changes and enables us to post orders towards the end of the picking season.

For our Tasmanian customers, the cherry tent will be open as normal with updates posted on Facebook being the best way to stay informed.

Our mainland customers who need their cherry fix will need to jump on a plane or drive onto the boat and have the full Woodstock experience…the tent…the chooks…the orchard…freshly picked cherries and all the mayhem that accompanies each harvest season…might not be a bad thing to do after the year that has been??
